Fresco Cafe and Pizzeria
This restaurant has good food, good prices and a lot of problems. Fresco is a laid back neighborhood cafe with a diverse menu. Highlights include specialty pizzas and unique sandwiches and wraps. As the name implies, everything seems fresh with a healthy twist. My husband and I have eaten here multiple times and have always enjoyed our meals. We have had two different pizzas, one a meat-lovers special and the other a cheese heavy option. Compared to other local pizzerias, the cheese pizza with the herb garlic sauce is exceptional. As far as the sandwich options go, the spinach artichoke wrap is good, as was the Italian special and the gyro, although my husband complains that the sauce on the gyro was 'too yogurt-y'. That said, all of their ingredients are fresh and always delicious. Fresco also features a wide array of appetizers; a highlight is the spinach artichoke dip served with warm whole wheat pita bread. On to the problems. We have eaten at Fresco several times and each time, we have been disappointed in the service. The restaurant always seems understaffed, or that the waitresses are not too concerned with customer satisfaction. The other problem is that food seems to take inordinately long to leave the kitchen. The last, a probably biggest problem, at least for us, is that the daily drink specials are not properly advertised. On Thursdays, Fresco advertises $1 wine glasses, but it turns out that it is only one glass of wine per $10 spent, something that is not clearly specified on the menu. As the meal progresses, these problems begin to accrue and take away from the overall dining experience. Despite its problems, Fresco is an excellent place to enjoy a laid back, reasonably priced meal, and the restaurant is kid friendly. There are plenty of high chairs and a separate kids' menu, and with a child, we felt very welcome. All totalled, I give Fresco 2 stars.
