Slice Pizzeria

While Slice Pizzeria is not my favorite pizza joint in town, they do offer quality food at fair prices, and are in a great location right off the trolley line on St. Charles Avenue. The appetizer list is basically non-existent, which was frustrating, but the topping options and specialty pizza's available provide several great choices. The pizza pie is styled after New York City's; thin, crispy crust cut into large triangular slices piled high with cheese and anything else you could want. My husband and I ordered the White Pie, brushed with EVOO and topped with Romano, Ricotta, Mozzarella and garlic, and we added to it Italian sausage. The ingredients were fresh and distinct, and the pizza was cooked to perfection. In addition to the numerous pizza options, several daily specials of the non-pie variety were offered for those customers who are looking for something different. Slice also features several kids choices, and unlike most children's menu items, the portions were quite significant. Our daughter enjoyed a quality slice of cheese pizza that she had no trouble finishing; plenty of high chairs and booster seats round out this restaurants family atmosphere. While children are certainly welcome, Slice is just as much of a bar as it is a restaurant. The entire back room of this petite restaurant is fully stocked for any sort of drink service, and their happy hour specials, such as $1 domestic beers, are extremely fair. The staff was friendly and helpful, but it was not the swiftest or most attentive wait service I have experienced. The prices are moderate, and in line with what you would expect from a New Orleans pizzeria; our meal was around $25 including drinks. Overall, this restaurant is not bad, but then again, it is nothing spectacular. While my husband and I have no specific plans at the moment, I imagine that we will one day patronize this restaurant again. I give Slice Pizzeria 2 and a half stars.
