Parasol's Restaurant & Bar

Parasol's Restaurant & Bar is perhaps most famous for it's St. Patrick's Day party. After the annual parade in Uptown, members of the Krewe and the community head over to Parasol's to continue the festivities. Located in the heart of the Irish Channel, what else would you expect? What might surprise you that Parasol's is a gem of a restaurant, as well as an Irish bar with enough TVs and pinball machines to entice a good night time crowd. The menu is stocked with traditional New Orleans-style po'boys and daily specials. I suggest you try the roast beef, they are famous for it. It comes loaded with sloppy roast beef and is served on crispy French bread. My husband tried it and thought it was one of the best he has had in the city. The other po'boys are equally piled high and served on fresh crispy bread. They have traditional meats and of course fried seafood, and if you are not a fan of po'boys, Parasol's also serves traditional sandwiches and seafood platters. A decent selection of side options are available including buffalo wings and several variations on french fries. Daily specials, such as red beans and rice, stay true to New Orleans dive cuisine. Prices are similar to other comparable spoons in the area, and the quantity of food you receive makes Parasol's a good deal. The service is quick and the staff is friendly, although unconventional, and while the restaurant only accepts cash, there is an ATM in the building. Parasol's is definitely a dive best suited for adults, but they do have one high chair, so it is acceptable to bring a child during the day. If you are looking for yet another great neighborhood eatery to enjoy in New Orleans, you must give Parasol's a try. I give Parasol's Restaurant & Bar 3 stars.
